Devotional
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the entire city was buzzing with one question: ‘Who is this?’ It’s a question that still resonates today. Some saw Him as a political revolutionary, others as a threat to their power, and still others as a miracle worker who could solve their immediate problems. But Jesus came as something far more significant – He came as the promised Messiah, though not in the way many expected. Riding on a humble donkey instead of a majestic war horse, He demonstrated that His kingdom operates differently than worldly kingdoms. His entrance challenged everyone’s expectations, just as He continues to challenge ours today. When we approach Jesus, do we come with our own preconceived notions of who He should be, or are we willing to accept Him as He truly is?
Bible Verse
“As Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, ‘Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.'” – Matthew 21:1-2
Reflection Question
What expectations do you bring to your relationship with Jesus, and how might these expectations limit your understanding of who He truly is?
Quote
“Who is this guy? Just a prophet who’s probably going to disappoint us, but we’re going to look for a short time. Or is he truly the Lord? The Son of David to set us free for all of our life.”
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to see You as You truly are, not as I want You to be. Open my eyes to Your true nature and purpose in my life. Give me the humility to accept Your ways over my expectations. Amen.
