The King We Need

Devotional

The crowds that lined Jerusalem’s streets that day were looking for a specific type of savior – one who would overthrow Roman rule and establish an earthly kingdom. They wanted immediate solutions to their immediate problems. How often do we fall into the same pattern? We cry out for help, but with our own agenda in mind. We want financial security, health, success, and comfort. Yet Jesus came to offer something far greater – eternal salvation and spiritual freedom. He rode into Jerusalem not on a war horse but on a humble donkey, demonstrating that His kingdom operates on different principles than worldly kingdoms. His mission wasn’t to provide temporary fixes but to address our deepest spiritual needs.

Bible Verse

“See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” – Zechariah 9:9

Reflection Question

In what ways have you been seeking temporary solutions from Jesus when He wants to offer you eternal transformation?

Quote

“They wanted to be saved in a way that brought them a lot of money, a lot of good things, and all the fun things you could have, all the new toys, the new clothes and good things to eat.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to seek You for who You are, not just for what You can do for me. Align my desires with Your eternal purposes. Amen.
