Devotional
Have you ever tried to help someone who refused to accept it? It can be frustrating and heartbreaking to watch someone struggle when assistance is readily available. Yet, how often do we do the same thing with God? We wrestle against His loving embrace, determined to handle life’s challenges on our own terms. Like a child fighting against a parent’s comforting hug, we sometimes push away the very help we need most. This resistance often stems from our pride – that deep-seated desire to prove we can manage independently. But this independence comes at a cost, leaving us exhausted and separated from the very source of our strength.
Bible Verse
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” – Luke 13:34
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you currently resisting God’s help and trying to maintain control?
Quote
“Our pride is no different than the very first day of Adam and Eve. Who said, we don’t need God? We can take care of this on our own.”
Prayer
Loving Father, help me recognize when my pride prevents me from accepting Your love and care. Give me the humility to surrender my need for control and trust in Your perfect plan. Amen.
